As the nation unlocks in a staggered manner with respect to all the sectors, so is the B-town. Many actors have begun their work which was left in midway in the face of the current pandemic. Now, when the actors are off to complete leftover projects, there is a certain group of professional dancers from the industry who have felt the maximum brunt of the lockdown and even today their plight continues. To their assistance has come Katrina Kaif, being benign about extending monetary support to the around 100 sufferers. This would definitely help the dancers financially to stretch out livelihoods for few more days.

It is reported that Katrina transferred the money directly into the account of the dancers, which they can use to start some small businesses. Raj Surani, a dance coordinator with several actors in the Bollywood songs, has given a statement to TOI that he would use the amount to run minuscule businesses like tiffin service, beauty service and deal in home-made stuffs.

Hetal, a senior dancer, has also come forward to acknowledge the help she has received from Katrina Kaif and she is now able to run a small local service of selling vegetables in the society as per the orders. Speaking to TOI, Hetal said, “I risk my life going to a nearby market to buy fresh vegetables every morning at the break of the dawn and sell them to the locals in the society.”

Being not able to predict when the songs will be shot and these dancers will be called on to join the crew, at least they are taking up odd jobs to eke out a living for now. While the pandemic is still dancing upon us, these dancers do not look disheartened, rather they are highly motivated to become self-reliant, same as India has taken an oath to become one. Reports are that some of them have joined call centres whereas some are busy setting up gymnasiums, etc.

Really, this pandemic has been very harsh on the daily wagers who had no alternative jobs to sustain the crisis. We believe that there are more actors like Katrina Kaif abound in the film industry, who should extend the hands of aid in any form to the people worst hit in the fraternity.
