Fans received a sneak peek at some of the planned TV episodes and movies next year at the virtual DC FanDome event, which was modelled after Netflix‘s global event TUDUM. One of these was Netflix’s version of The Sandman, which is planned to debut in 2022. The Sandman is an anticipated television series based on Neil Gaiman’s, Mike Dringenberg, and Sam Keith’s popular comic book series of the same name.
There have been countless attempts to make a Sandman picture, but Gaiman’s rich, multi-layered story-telling — which works so brilliantly across dozens of comic books — has proven to be a severe impediment to bringing Sandman to the big screen. Various people, including Pulp Fiction co-writer Roger Avery and Joseph Gordon Levitt, have been associated with different versions, but all have stopped in production.
Finally, in June 2019, Netflix announced that a TV adaptation of The Sandman would be produced, with Gaiman serving as an executive producer. The show, which was shot from October 2020 to August 2021, is set to premiere in the near future. Here’s everything we know thus far about The Sandman…
