Thor: Love and Thunder | Release Date | Cast | Plot | Trailer

Everything you need to know about Thor: Love and Thunder starring once again the popular Chris Hemsworth is here.

Chris Hemsworth and Waititi had explored plans for a sequel to Ragnarok by January 2018. Hemsworth, Waititi, Thompson, and Portman—who did not appear in Ragnarok—were all attached to return to the franchise when Thor: Love and Thunder was formally announced in July 2019. Waititi revealed that the picture would incorporate elements from Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book series, in which Portman’s character Jane Foster takes on the mantle and powers of Thor while battling cancer. Waititi later described the film as a romance film once Robinson joined it in February 2020. Filming in Sydney, Australia, began in January 2021 and ended in early June 2021.

Thor : Love And Thunder Release Date

Thor: Love and Thunder was supposed to be released on November 5, 2021 when the Phase 4 plans were initially disclosed.

Due to the postponement of Black Widow, all Phase 4 films were pushed back one release date, meaning the fourth Thor film was pushed back to February 18, 2022. However, we received some good news, and the release date was pushed back a week to February 11, 2022.

Then it was pushed back to May 6, 2022, and then again to July 8, 2022, taking the place of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (the Black Panther sequel has also moved along with a host more Phase 4 movies).

The reason for the shift in Phase 4’s release date is unknown, and all we can do now is hope.

Cast

First, the Thor: Love and Thunder cast has been confirmed. It should come as no surprise who is in the spotlight. Yep. Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor, the God of Thunder. Valkyrie, the newly-installed monarch of New Asgard, will be joining him (Tessa Thompson). However, fans of Loki will be disappointed to learn that Tom Hiddleston will not be reprising his role.

Natalie Portman was brought on stage as a surprise at SDCC 2019. She would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jane Foster, but not just any Jane Foster. Jane Foster will be The Mighty Thor, a narrative hook straight from comic writer Jason Aaron’s famed mid-2010s Thor run, whether she’s from the multiverse or not.

In addition, Portman recently confirmed that her character will be treated for cancer. Check out what the comics have to say about Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor if you’re not sure what to anticipate.

Russell Crowe has joined the cast of the film and stated that he will portray Zeus, which means we can expect a lot of lightning if the two thunder gods meet.

Sif has been brought back by Jaimie Alexander, and other MCU characters, like Matt Damon repeating his role from Thor: Ragnarok, could be on the way. On Asgard, he portrayed an actor who played Loki. Sam Neil, who portrayed the role of Odin in the same play, has also hinted at a possible appearance.

Director Taika Waititi will also reprise his role as Korg in front of the camera. After his debut in Thor: Ragnarok and a cameo in Avengers: Endgame playing against noobmaster69, the rock star will make his third appearance.

Chris Pratt, aka Star-Lord, will also appear in the forthcoming Thor film. It’s unclear how big of a role he’ll play, but at the very least, we now know that the Asgardians of the Galaxy will return.

Vin Diesel may also have revealed that Groot will make an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder. “Thor will combine parts of the Guardians of the Galaxy, according to [Taika Waititi], which will be really exciting. Nobody knows, but perhaps I shouldn’t have said anything in the first place “Comic Book was informed by Vin Diesel. Now that Pratt has joined the cast, it appears that Vin Diesel may have announced too much, too fast.

Christian Bale has signed on to play Gorr the God Butcher, who played a key role in Jason Aaron’s reign as the guy who assassinated deities across time and space, and will supposedly be pitted against the Thors.

Plot

With the arrival of Mighty Thor in the MCU, Waititi has acknowledged that he drew inspiration for the film from Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman’s Marvel Comics series The Mighty Thor.

“That tale is wonderful,” he said, “it’s full of emotion, love, and thunder, and it presents a female Thor for the first time.”

Jane’s cancer storyline from the comics will be featured in the film, according to Portman. “She’s undergoing cancer treatment while also being a superhero,” she explained.

Waititi has only hinted at romance, most likely a rekindling of Thor and Jane’s relationship. The film will also dive into the background of Korg, a fan favourite.

Aside from that, Thompson indicated that Valkyrie will be rebuilding Asgard and “re-investing in her people,” while Hemsworth is clueless about what Thor has been up to since joining the Guardians: “He might be on the couch at this time.”

James Gunn’s declaration that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 takes place after Thor: Love and Thunder complicates the situation, raising the question of when Thor departed the Guardians to embark on his own adventure.

Thor will most likely only make a passing mention to it in Love and Thunder, with a cameo in Guardians 3, but this is just a guess.

Could there be any multiverse hijinks in this film, like there are in earlier Phase 4 films like Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home? According to one notion, Loki could still appear in the fourth film despite his death.

Hemsworth says nothing about the plot of the film except that it’s “one of the greatest scripts I’ve read in years,” and that it’s “one of the best scripts I’ve read in years”: “It’s Taika at his craziest and most brilliant. It’s going to be fairly ridiculous if the version I read is the one we run with.”

Thor : Love And Thunder Trailer

There are no trailers or teasers yet — Marvel movies usually launch video and TV advertisements three to four months before their release date. If this holds true, the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer should arrive in late 2021.

That’s quite a distance away. Meanwhile, you may admire the Thor: Love and Thunder logo (above), which was introduced during last year’s SDCC.
