Ms Marvel Episode 6 No Nothing Review: A Magical Ending But Lacks Impact

The final episode of Ms Marvel is now available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar. The finale tries to bring all the pieces together to make sense but lacks a major impact.

After leaving the penultimate episode with an end to several aspects of the series that created the suspense and thrill of the story build-up, the finale had nothing major to hold on to.

Most of the Marvel series have a blockbuster ending sometimes resulting in several twists and turns as was in Loki but Ms Marvel was concocted with a different pattern in the minds of the creators.

The last episode left with Bruno and Kamran running from Damage Control while Kamran finds it hard to control his newfangled powers after Najma sacrificed herself. The clandestine were always weak antagonists unlike the ones featured in WandaVision or Moon Knight.

The creators could have stretched their roles and added a more interesting angle to the Djinns making the entire concept fascinating.

Anyhow, the sixth episode “No Nothing” primarily deals with Kamran trying to escape Damage Control and the episode mainly features Kamala’s plan to get him away from New Jersey sending him to Pakistan where the Red Daggers are waiting for him.

Making their high school the point of their plan, Kamala and the team develop booby traps to keep the agents away and thus unfolds an ingenious plan that keeps the D.O.D.C away from the crew for a considerable amount of time.

The non-superhero moments may not have thrilling fights with powers but has cool sequences that can easily challenge other Marvel events like that of Stark breaking into Mandarin’s house.

Amidst their plan, Kamala finally reveals the truth about Najma which leads to a row between the two while the agents slowly overpower their crew leaving only Kamran and Kamala to save themselves.

Gradually this fight moves from its base and the Pakistani community in New Jersey is seen standing in support of the teens after Zoe streamed the happenings inside the high school. The big and charming superhero moment that Marvel fans were waiting for finally transpires with Kamala encountering Damage Control.

Tell-tale TV

Kamala embiggen in the middle of the fight leaving the comic book enthusiasts in surprise. However, Kamran has a burst of power where he risked the lives of everyone in his proximity but in an emotional exchange with Kamala, he decides to hold back and leave for the harbor to meet Kareem in Pakistan.

With Kamran gone from the scene, D.O.D.C tries to capture Kamala but the Muslim community steps up and protects her against their attacks.

Even in the final episode, the series does not leave out the political approach it had decided to carry from the beginning.

The ending is satisfying with Kamala’s father finally giving her the name Ms. Marvel and Bruno revealing that she has the power to harness the Noor because of some mutations in her genes due to the others couldn’t.

However, in the comic books, Kamala was connected with the Inhumans so any possibility of them joining the series later is near zero.

Although the series lacked elements of suspense and thrill, it was able to represent the Muslim community bringing much-needed change from the stereotypical tries.

We got to see many actors from the background their actor was playing like Farhan Akhtar, Mehvish Hayat, and Fawad Khan.

Iman Vellani also played her part really well being the teenager who is pulled into the world of madness with superpowers and hero stuff. The desi references and traditional settings especially in scenes set in Pakistan were also truly memorable.

Ms. Marvel lacked the impact that is known to be connected with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it was the first time that they decided to tackle politics and history in the story without leaving out the details or molding them to fit a certain view.
