The year 2020 is the year that will be remembered for the untimely deaths of our legend. Adding to the never-ending death, Former Australia batsman Dean Jones died at the age of 59 due to a heart attack in Mumbai.
Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones died in Mumbai on Thursday after suffering a heart attack.
Jones was in Mumbai as a commentator for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. It is understood that Brett Lee, his fellow commentator, tried to give him CPR but it went unsuccessful. Jones had a massive heart attack in the lobby of the hotel where he was put up by BCCI’s IPL broadcaster Star Sports.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing away of Mr. Dean Mervyn Jones AM. He died of a sudden cardiac arrest,” Star said in a statement.
The relevant authorities will issue a statement soon after the formalities are over, including a post-mortem.
He will be remembered for his contribution to the field of cricket. He played 52 Tests and scored 3631 runs including 11 centuries, and featured in 164 One-Dayers, racking up 6063 runs, seven centuries, and 46 fifties. Jones is hailed for revolutionizing the One Day International format.

He was part of the Australia squad which won the 1987 World Cup, and the 1989 Ashes.Jones went on to enjoys careers in coaching and the media, where he was known to be a forthright pundit.There was more to the former Victoria and Derbyshire captain than his work on the pitch and in the studio.
Jones is credited with having played a major role in the development of white-ball cricket across the world and raised substantial sums of money for charity through sponsored walks.
He leaves behind wife Jane and two daughters – Phoebe and Isabella.
