One of the most undermined states in India, still proving itself every single time. Bihar is a state in eastern India to have the third-largest population of India. Over the years Bihar has enriched in many fields. If you stay near Bihar and wish to explore something historic post lockdown, it wouldn’t at all disappoint you. Bihar is diverse in culture and over the years has not just proliferated in terms of education but it’s tourism as well.

 

1. Bodh Gaya: One of the sacred places in India, Bodh Gaya is famous for attracting tourists from all over the world for a holy respite. Something that makes it worth visiting is the importance it has been the only place where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment.

Places that shall be must visit are:

Mahabodhi Temple: Buddhist temple and pilgrimage centre.

Giant Buddha: A stone Buddha statue attracting many tourists for a holy respite.

Vishnupad Mandir: A temple for a religious visit.

Dungeshwari: A historical Buddha temple with rich culture and diversity.

Royal Bhutan Monastery: A monastery and architecture.

Muchalinda Lake: A lake with a Buddha statue still in the middle.

 

2. Patna: Capital city of Bihar, serves both tourism and education simultaneously. It is an ancient city sprawling along the south of the river Ganges. People come here to taste the authentic flavours of Bihari cuisine. The litti chokha dipped in desi ghee is a truly scrumptious dish here that will make you gain extra kilos after your visit but in a positive way and you wouldn’t at all regret.

Golghar: Historic granary with scenic views.

Chandani Radmade Scope: Museum radmade scope best known as Patna Science Museum.

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park: A sprawling zoo and Biological Park.

Gandhi Setu: India’s longest bridge over the river.

Takhat Shri Harimandir Ji: Best known as Patna Sahib, is a Sikh Gurudwara with an educational hub of information for the visitors.

Funtasia Water Park: An amusement park.

 

3. Rajgir: A spiritual town in Bihar after Bodh Gaya which is nested in the green valleys surrounded by rocky hills. It has dense forests nearby making it look more intense.

Places must visit are:

Venu Van: Monastery of Buddhists and a beautiful garden.

Son Bhandar Caves: Ancient artificial caves with carvings.

Saptaparni Cave: Another of the Buddha cave attracting tourists from all over the world.

Bimbisar Jail: Historic ruins in striking surrounds.

Ajatshatru Fort: A historical fort with a rich history surfacing its background.

Pandu Pokhar: A parka and garden for a leisurely respite. Pokhar here means pond.

 

4. Madhubani: Famous for its richness of art and culture. I am pretty sure you aren’t at all ignorant of the famous Madhubani painting in India.

Places to visit in Madhubani are:

Kapilesh Sthan: A village is known for Kapileshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Saurath: Nested between Madhubani and Jaynagar, Saurath is a small roadside village popular for Somnath Mahadev temple.

Nagar Fort: A historical fort now ruins because of several earthquakes that have hit since 1934 still attracting tourists for its magnificent structure.

Bhawanipur: A small village with rich culture mainly having its association with the poet named Vidyapeeth.

Uchaitha: Located in the bank on river Thumne, is a Bhagwati temple. The history believes that goddess Bhagwati blessed the poet Kalidas here.

 

5. Vaishali: Another of a holy place in Bihar to attract tourists all over the world. It is recognized as the world’s first republic even before the birth of Gautam Buddha. Lord Buddha has spent a significant time of his life here.

The Ashoka Pillar: Named after king Ashoka is a huge pillar to have last memories (sermons) of Lord Buddha.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa: Is a 125ft tall pagoda surrounded by a huge pond. Boating here is very famous.
