1. Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew (2027)
Greta Gerwig wrote and directed this new Narnia film, which will open in cinemas on 12 February 2027 before streaming on Netflix from 2 April 2027. Netflix confirmed the plan on its Tudum site in May 2026, as Deadline and Reuters reported. It will be Netflix’s first wide theatrical release.
The cast includes Emma Mackey as Jadis, the White Witch, Daniel Craig as Andrew Ketterley and Carey Mulligan as Mabel Kirke. Sony Pictures will handle the cinema release outside North America.
Why it made the list: A major director taking on one of the best known fantasy series, with a proper cinema run first.
2. The Legend of Zelda (2027)
The live-action Zelda film from Nintendo and Sony is now set for 30 April 2027. Its first date was announced through Nintendo’s own app in March 2025, and the release has moved twice since then, most recently to an earlier slot in May 2026.
Wes Ball directs, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda. Dichen Lachman and Sam Neill are also in the cast.
Best for: Gamers who have waited decades to see Hyrule on the big screen.
3. Star Wars: Starfighter (2027)
Lucasfilm announced the 28 May 2027 date at Star Wars Celebration Japan in April 2025, as The Hollywood Reporter reported. Shawn Levy directs from a script by Jonathan Tropper.
Ryan Gosling leads a cast that includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre and Amy Adams. The story is set about five years after The Rise of Skywalker and is neither a sequel nor a prequel.

4. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2027)
Universal set the live-action sequel for 11 June 2027, with Deadline reporting the date from CinemaCon in April 2025. Dean DeBlois returns as writer and director.
Mason Thames and Nico Parker are back as Hiccup and Astrid, and Gerard Butler returns as Stoick. Cate Blanchett joins the cast as Valka.

5. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2027)
The next animated Spider-Verse film is set for 18 June 2027. Sony first set a June 2027 date at CinemaCon in March 2025, then moved it twice, settling on Father’s Day weekend in September 2025.
Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson direct. Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld and Oscar Isaac return, along with Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar, the Spider-Man of India.

6. Shrek 5 (2027)
Universal and DreamWorks Animation have dated Shrek 5 for 30 June 2027, a move Deadline reported in August 2025. The film was earlier set for 2026.
Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz return as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. Zendaya joins as Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter. Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon direct.

7. Man of Tomorrow (2027)
James Gunn, David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult announced the title and the 9 July 2027 date with artwork on social media in September 2025, as Deadline reported. Gunn writes and directs.
The story has Superman and Lex Luthor reluctantly teaming up against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane and Milly Alcock appears as Supergirl.
Why it made the list: It is the next big step for the new DC film universe.
8. A Quiet Place Part III (2027)
Paramount has set the third main A Quiet Place film for 30 July 2027, according to Deadline. John Krasinski returns to write and direct.
Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are back, with Jack O’Connell and Jason Clarke joining the cast.
Best for: Horror fans who like their scares quiet and tense.
9. The Batman Part II (2027)
Matt Reeves’ sequel is set for 1 October 2027 from Warner Bros. The film was delayed twice, the last time in December 2024 to give Reeves more time on the script, as The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne, alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell. New cast members include Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent.

11. Avengers: Secret Wars (2027)
Marvel Studios moved Secret Wars to 17 December 2027 in May 2025. It follows Avengers: Doomsday, which is due on 18 December 2026. Anthony and Joe Russo direct both films.
Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom. Marvel has not confirmed the full cast yet.

12. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum (2027)
