On Christmas, the picture was predicted to do extraordinarily well. The sports drama, on the other hand, kept its budget low and only made Rs 16 crore. The total amount collected so far is Rs 28 crore. The film, which also stars Deepika Padukone, is based on Indian cricket’s most illustrious chapter, the 1983 World Cup.
Day 1
The first day of Ranveer Singh’s 83 Box Office Collections saw a decent 25-30 percent opening in morning shows, but collections appear to be good only in the metros of Delhi / NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Bangalore, where 45 to 50 percent openings are expected, while the rest of the country is expected to be dull with 10 to 30 percent openings. After Sooryavanshi, this is the second highest opening of 2021. This is Ranveer Singh’s fourth biggest opening day, after Simmba, Gully Boy, and Padmavaat, and in the same ballpark as Gunday and Ram Leela.
83 has done well in advance, but even though it has a smaller demand than Gully Boy, it appears that it will do better than other Hindi films in recent years. There are Christmas vacations, so it can pick up and perform well.
The overall budget for 83 is 200 crores all-together, which is so costly since it required rights from all of the players on the Indian squad at the time, thus everyone was compensated, unlike a film like Dhoni, in which just Dhoni was intended to be compensated for the rights. As a result, it is one of the most costly Indian films ever filmed.
Cost of production: 120 crores, including Ranveer Singh and Kabir Khan’s salary. 60 crores for the rights. Cost of advertising: 20 crores
According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, Ranveer Singh’s 83 had a “great” start on Friday, grossing $12.64 crore on its first day. The film 83, directed by Kabir Khan, had a protracted wait for a theatrical release. The film did well at premium multiplexes on opening day, but received a “dull” reception in mainstream pockets. Taran Adarsh shared an 83 box office report on Twitter on Saturday, writing: “On Day 1, #83TheFilm disappoints… Excellent in premium multiplexes, average in Tier-2 towns, and boring in mass pockets… The #Christmas holiday should result in an increase in business… #PVR, #INOX, and #Cinepolis are already exhibiting *significant gains* on Day 2… Friday 12.64 crore. Business in India. EACH AND EVERY VERSION”
Ranveer Singh portrays legendary Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev, under whose leadership the Indian side won the World Cup in 1983. Mohinder Amarnath (portrayed by Saqib Saleem), Sunil Gavaskar (portrayed by Tahir Raj Bhasin), Krishnamachari Srikkanth (portrayed by Jiiva), late cricketer Yashpal Sharma (portrayed by Jatin Sarna), Sandip Patil (portrayed by his son Chirag Patil), Roger Binny (portrayed by Nishant Dahiya), Madan Lal (portrayed by Harrdy Sandhu), Syed Kirmani ( (played by R Badree).
Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh’s wife, and actress plays Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife, in the film.
Day 2
Despite great reviews from reviewers and audiences, the Ranveer Singh-led film continues to suffer at the box office. The film grossed Rs 16 crore on Christmas Day, a little increase above its opening day haul. According to Box Office India, the film witnessed a 30-35 percent increase on day two.
“83 (Hindi) gathered roughly 16 crore net on day two, bringing its total to 28 crore net after two days, with day two growth expected to be in the 30-35 percent range. The picture should have grown more because its opening day was low and, more crucially, it was a national holiday for Christmas,” according to the Box Office India report.
On its first day, the film grossed over Rs 13-14 crore. This implies that the film has made a total of Rs 28 crore so far. Previously, it was stated that the film received mostly good reviews exclusively in tier-one cities. It will be intriguing to watch if the film’s box office performance improves much on Sunday.
The sports drama 83 is based on India’s historic 1983 cricket World Cup triumph. Ranveer Singh plays Kapil Dev, the captain of the Indian cricket team that won the World Cup under his leadership. Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree, and R Badree also feature in the film. The film has also been released in Tamil and Telugu, in addition to Hindi.
