During a recent meeting with her “Titanic” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio after years apart due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Kate Winslet revealed she “couldn’t stop weeping.”
“I’ve known him for almost a half-century!” “It’s not like I’ve found myself in New York or he’s been in London and there’s been an opportunity to have dinner or grab a coffee and catch up,” the Oscar winner, 46, said in an interview published Thursday by The Guardian.
“We have been unable to leave our own nations.” We’ve missed each other due to COVID, just like so many other friendships throughout the world.”

“He’s my buddy, my really close friend,”
The British actress continued, referring to DiCaprio, 47, who she co-starred with in 2008’s “Revolutionary Road.” “We’re destined to be together for the rest of our lives.”
Winslet told The Guardian, “I couldn’t stop sobbing.” “He’s someone I’ve known for half my life! It’s not like I’ve found myself in New York or he’s been in London and we’ve had the opportunity to have dinner or catch up over a cup of coffee. We’ve been unable to leave our own nations. We’ve missed each other due to Covid, just like so many other friendships throughout the world.”
During her interview with the publication, Winslet discussed her time working on “Titanic” with DiCaprio while they were both in their early twenties, an event that pushed both performers to A-list prominence.
“I was 21 at the time, and Leo was 22,” she admitted, confessing that working on the James Cameron-directed movie “wasn’t nice” for either of them.
“But we were all in it together,” says the narrator. Despite the fact that he had much more vacation days than I ever had. She said, “I think I was raised to be appreciative and simply go on with things.”
“Some very, very personal stuff,” she explained, “asking each other for guidance.”
“Not necessarily comparing notes, but more along the lines of, ‘No, don’t do it that way, do it this way.’ He’s a natural at it. I have to confess, a lot of his romantic advice has worked for me. And I’m sure it’s the other way around.”
“She’s the finest,” says Leo
He explained, “We were actively seeking for something to do together. “It just seemed right.” “She’s one of my homies. In a separate appearance with Today, DiCaprio had all love for his pal. He described her as “a consummate professional.”
“I didn’t believe it was my right to be unhappy, and if I had been unhappy, I would not have told a journalist.” “There’s no way I could have allowed it to happen!”
This isn’t the first time Winslet has expressed gratitude for her on-screen collaborations with DiCaprio, as well as the lasting relationship that resulted from them.
In 2016, she told People, “He’s a great, loyal person.” “He’s always been a tremendous friend, not just to me, but to everyone around him.” He still hangs around with the same people he did while we were filming ‘Titanic.’ He hasn’t changed much in many aspects, but he has changed dramatically in others.”
