The biggest new movies in theatres in India this October and November 2026 are Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 (October 15), Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali and Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar (October 16), Udta Teer (October 23), and two Diwali releases on November 6: Ramayana: Part 1 and Suriya’s Scene.

The Dussehra and Diwali weeks are packed this year, and several films have shifted dates in the last few weeks. This list only includes dates confirmed by the makers or reported by reliable outlets as of October 8, 2026. Dates can still move, so check your booking app before you plan.

Already in theatres this month

October opened with a full weekend. Drishyam: The Conclusion, the final Hindi chapter with Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran, released on October 2, according to Outlook India. Prem Keetanu, starring Aparshakti Khurana and Veer Pahariya, released the same day. It is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit Premalu.

In the South, the Kannada film Bail, directed by Pavan Wadeyar and starring Shiva Rajkumar and Jayaram, opened on October 2. The Malayalam action film Titans, with Jayasurya and Vinayakan, released on October 1.

1. Jailer 2 (October 15, Tamil)

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in Nelson Dilipkumar’s sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer. Sun Pictures confirmed the October 15 date on September 2, ending talk of another delay, as reported by Onmanorama. The film was first aimed at a June 2026 release.

Anirudh Ravichander is back on music. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa return, while S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan join the cast. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar also reprise their cameo roles.

2. Ranabaali (October 16, Telugu)

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna lead this period action drama from director Rahul Sankrityan, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. It was earlier set for September 11 and has now moved to October 16 for the Dussehra holiday, according to The Hollywood Reporter India.

South African actor Arnold Vosloo plays a key role, and Ajay Atul have composed the music. The film is in Telugu, with Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions planned.

3. Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam (October 16, Hindi)

Rajkummar Rao plays public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in this biopic directed by Avinash Arun, who earlier made Three of Us and worked on Paatal Lok. Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films is producing.

The film was earlier dated August 7 before moving to October 16. Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher are also in the cast.

4. Nayyi Navelli (October 16, Hindi)

Yami Gautam Dhar leads this fantasy family film directed by Balaji Mohan, with Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow producing. The teaser shows her as a new bride whom the family suspects is a daayan.

Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma wrote the screenplay, and G.V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music. It clashes with Prahaar and Ranabaali in the same week.

5. Udta Teer (October 23, Hindi)

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan star in this spy comedy, directed by debutant Akash A Kaushik. The trailer shows Ayushmann as a Pakistani spy with memory loss. Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor are among the producers.

The film was meant to release on October 9 but has been pushed back by two weeks to October 23 to avoid the crowded Dussehra week, according to the Free Press Journal.

6. Tu Hai Meri Kiran (October 23, Hindi)

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal share the screen in this film written and directed by Karan Rawal. Both Outlook India and Bollywood Hungama list it for October 23. Little Thomas, with Gulshan Devaiah and Rasika Dugal, and Tum Mere Ho, with Gurmeet Choudhary, are also dated for the same Friday.

7. Ramayana: Part 1 (November 6)

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is the biggest release of the season. Ranbir Kapoor plays Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana and Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman. Namit Malhotra is producing.

The film opens worldwide on November 6, two days before Diwali. Outlook India reported that the trailer came out in five Indian languages on July 30, followed by an English trailer. Part 2 is expected around Diwali 2027, but no date has been announced.

8. Scene (November 6, Tamil)

Suriya’s next film is a cop thriller titled Scene, directed by Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham fame. This is his first Tamil film. Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen play key roles.

Suriya and Jyotika are producing through 2D Entertainment. With a November 6 date, Scene goes head to head with Ramayana: Part 1 in the Diwali week.

What changed: Om and Fauzi

Dhanush’s Om: Chapter 1, which also stars Mammootty and Sai Pallavi, was dated for October 16. On September 23, Dhanush announced it would step aside for Jailer 2 and Scene, and a new date is still awaited.
