Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert is going ahead on Friday 30 October 2026 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, after Delhi Police first denied and then granted permission within a day. The show opens the India leg of his AURA tour, and the police cleared it on 23 October after organisers BookMyShow Live presented detailed security and crowd plans.
Why permission was denied
On 22 October, the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) wrote to BookMyShow refusing the application, which had been filed on 14 October. The letter, as reported by The Week, cited “specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law & order commitments” of the festive season, and said the request “cannot be acceded to”.
According to a senior police official quoted by Outlook, a hoax bomb-threat email sent to six Delhi schools on 15 October had warned students against attending the concert.

How the show got cleared
Delhi Police held several meetings with the organisers, who submitted detailed security plans. Permission was granted on 23 October, with police asking for added safety, traffic and crowd-management measures. BookMyShow said permission had been “temporarily withheld, not cancelled”, and assured “full compliance with all security/traffic requirements”.
The decision also drew a political response. AAP’s Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj criticised the initial denial, referring to Diljit’s support for the farmers’ movement.
Diljit’s reply to the confusion
Diljit responded with a light-hearted Instagram video aimed at people spreading confusion online. His message, as reported by Outlook: “Pehle news pata kar liya karo”, roughly, check the news first before jumping to conclusions.
