The coronavirus pandemic has made the immunity-boosting kadha an important part of our daily diet. Though there are no medicines to cure Covid-19, immunity plays an important role in recovery. In the post-COVID-19 world, the importance of preventive healthcare and personal hygiene is growing in the consumer`s minds. With immunity becoming the new obsession, traditional herbal concoctions and innovative boosters are finding takers.

Here are some simple drinks brimming with wonder ingredients that one can try at home to fight infections.

1. Turmeric milk / Masala Haldi doodh

Ingredients: Milk, turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, ginger, coconut oil, honey

Recipe: firstly, in a saucepan take 2 cups of milk. If you are vegan then you can go for coconut milk or almond milk. Next, add ¾ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp crushed pepper, ½ inch cinnamon, 1-inch ginger, and 1 tsp coconut oil. Whisk and mix well making sure everything is well combined. Keeping the flame on low keep the milk to boil. Now cool the milk slightly if you want to add honey or you can alternatively use sugar for sweetness or avoid it. Finally, strain the milk and enjoy turmeric milk or masala Haldi doodh.
It is an Indian drink that has been gaining popularity in Western cultures. It has lots of health benefits and often used as an alternative remedy to boost immunity and stave illness. it is also one of the most effective home treatments for sore throat and cough.

2. Ginger tea / Adrak chai

Ingredients: water, ginger, pods cardamom, cinnamon, tea powder, milk, sugar

Recipe: In a saucepan take 2 cups of water, and add 1-inch ginger, 2 pods cardamom, small piece cinnamon keep it to a boil. Now add 3 tsp tea powder and boil for 5 minutes on medium flame. Pour in ½ cup of milk and add 2 tsp sugar. Again boil for two minutes until the flavours are combined. Finally, strain the tea using a tea strainer and enjoy your adrak chai.

3. Badam Milk

Ingredients: Badam/almonds, pods cardamom, Kesar/saffron, milk powder, turmeric
Recipe: In a pan roast ½ cup of badam on low flame until the badam turns golden and crunchy. Then, let it cool down and transfer to the blender along with pods cardamom and ¼ tsp Kesar blend to a fine powder without adding water and transfer to a bowl. Also add ½ cup of milk powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, and ¼ tsp Kesar mix it well makes sure everything is combined well. if you prefer, you can also add ¼ cup powdered sugar at this stage. And then, put this badam powder to an airtight container.
To prepare badam milk, take 3 cups of milk in a saucepan. Add 2 tsp of homemade badam powder to milk and mix well. keep the milk to boil and then add sugar if you want. Stir and boil for a minute or until milk thickens slightly. Finally, pour the badam milk to a cup and enjoy.

Badam milk is nutritious, usually, extra nutrients such as calcium, riboflavin, vitamin E, and vitamin D are added to it to boost its nutritional content. It has lots of health benefits like low in calories, low in sugar, high in vitamin E, a good source of calcium, often enriched with vitamin D, and so on.


4. Turmeric Ginger Tea

Ingredients: water, turmeric, ginger, pepper, cinnamon, jaggery powder

Recipe: firstly, in a saucepan add 2 cups of water on low flame and add ½ tsp turmeric powder mix it well. Then, add 1 inch crushed ginger and ½ tsp crushed pepper and add ½ tsp cinnamon powder mix it well until all flavour combined. Add 1 tsp jaggery powder and boil for 5 minutes then urn of the flame and let it cool down for some time and voila.

Interestingly, both have been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments, ranging from migraines to chronic inflammation and fatigue. Both have also been used to help relieve pain, decrease nausea, and enhance immune function to help protect against illness and infection.

 

5. Tulsi Tea

Ingredients: Water, tulsi leave

Recipe: firstly, in a saucepan add 2 cups of water and add 8-10 tulsi leaves allow it to boil for few seconds cover lid and heat on a slow flame to 5 minutes and then filter & enjoy your tea.
Tulsi tea is very good for health. Tulsi is also called the queen of herbs. It helps in reducing stress, joint pain, help to treat cough and cold, improve thyroid function, prevent bad breath, and refresh your mood and body.
