The richest actors in the world in 2026 are Oprah Winfrey (about $3 billion), Shah Rukh Khan ($1.4 billion), Tyler Perry ($1.4 billion), and Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Seinfeld (about $1.1 billion each). These are the latest published estimates from Forbes and the Hurun India Rich List 2025.

Our old 2020 version of this list mixed actors with heiresses and relied on figures nobody could trace. This refreshed ranking only uses numbers that a named wealth tracker has published, and it explains where each fortune actually comes from. Spoiler: very little of it comes from acting fees alone.

Richest actors in the world: quick facts

Forbes counts someone as a celebrity billionaire only if they became famous first and rich later. That is why filmmakers Steven Spielberg ($5.3 billion) and George Lucas ($5.1 billion) sit above everyone here on the Forbes list but are not ranked as actors.

The billionaire actors, one by one

1. Oprah Winfrey: about $3 billion

Oprah is better known as a talk show host, but she has a real acting record, including an Oscar nomination for The Color Purple (1985). Forbes puts her at $3 billion, built on The Oprah Winfrey Show, her production business and large property holdings in California and Hawaii.

2. Shah Rukh Khan: $1.4 billion

The Hurun India Rich List 2025, released on 1 October 2025, valued Shah Rukh Khan at Rs 12,490 crore, or about $1.4 billion. That put him in the billionaire club, and on Forbes’ 2025 numbers it puts him ahead of Schwarzenegger and Seinfeld.

Most of this comes from ownership, not fees. Red Chillies Entertainment, his production and VFX company, and his stake in the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders are the big drivers. His 2023 run of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki added to the value of both. His next film, King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is scheduled for 24 December 2026.

3. Tyler Perry: $1.4 billion

Tyler Perry plays Madea himself, which is why he counts as an actor here. Forbes credits his fortune to his stage, film and TV work, his content library and Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. He owns almost all of what he makes, which is rare in Hollywood.

4. Arnold Schwarzenegger: $1.1 billion

Arnold made around 50 films, from The Terminator to True Lies, but Forbes says his billion came from smart money moves: commercial real estate, venture capital and private equity. He started investing in property in the 1970s, long before Hollywood paid him top fees.

5. Jerry Seinfeld: $1.1 billion

Seinfeld is a comedian first, but he starred in his own sitcom for nine seasons. Forbes says his share of Seinfeld profits, roughly 15 percent, along with stand-up tours and specials, keeps him in the billionaire bracket decades after the show ended.

Richest actors in India

For readers asking only about Indian stars, the Hurun India Rich List 2025 is the most cited source. It ranked these actors and film personalities:

1. Shah Rukh Khan: Rs 12,490 crore.
2. Juhi Chawla and family: Rs 7,790 crore, largely through her co-ownership of Kolkata Knight Riders with Shah Rukh and the Mehta family’s business interests.
3. Hrithik Roshan: Rs 2,160 crore, helped by his fitness and apparel brand HRX.
4. Karan Johar and Amitabh Bachchan: also named on the list, though the reports we checked did not give their exact figures.

Big names often listed, but with no verified 2026 figure

Many viral lists put Dwayne Johnson, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Jackie Chan and Tom Hanks in the top ten with very precise numbers. None of those figures come from Forbes or Hurun, and none of these actors appear on Forbes’ 2025 celebrity billionaires list. They are clearly among the highest-paid actors of their generation, but treat any exact net worth you see for them as a guess.

A few names from our 2020 list need a correction:

• Jami Gertz: often called the richest actress, but the wealth is tied to her husband Tony Ressler, co-founder of investment firm Ares Management. The couple own the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks.
• Dina Merrill: the actress and heiress died in 2017, so she no longer belongs on a current list.
• Sean Connery: the first screen James Bond died in October 2020.
• Mia Wasikowska: removed. There was no credible basis for the $275 million figure we carried.
• Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: their wealth now comes mainly from fashion label The Row, not acting.

Why acting alone rarely makes a billionaire

Look at the names above and the pattern is clear. Every billionaire actor owns something: a studio, a sports team, a sitcom share, a real estate portfolio or a brand. Big fees make actors rich. Ownership makes them billionaires.
