All figures are worldwide gross, not adjusted for inflation, as listed on Wikipedia’s list of highest-grossing Hindi films, which compiles trade estimates. Sources often differ by a few crore, and for some older films by much more, so read them as close estimates.

1. Dangal (2016)

Nitesh Tiwari’s sports drama stars Aamir Khan as wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trains his daughters to become champions. A large part of its record total came from its release in China, where it became one of the most successful Indian films ever.

Nearly a decade later, no Hindi film has overtaken it worldwide, although the Dhurandhar sequel came close.

2. Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026)

Aditya Dhar’s sequel released on 19 March 2026 with Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal. It recorded the biggest opening day for a Bollywood film and became the fastest Indian film to cross ₹1,500 crore worldwide.

It is now the highest-grossing Hindi film in India and the first Hindi film to cross ₹1,000 crore net in the domestic market across all language versions. It streams on JioHotstar and Netflix in India.

3. Dhurandhar (2025)

The first part released on 5 December 2025 and became the year’s biggest Hindi film. Together, the two Dhurandhar films have grossed more than ₹3,200 crore worldwide, according to the same Wikipedia compilation.

Dhurandhar streams on Netflix.

4. Jawan (2023)

Directed by Atlee, Jawan gave Shah Rukh Khan his second ₹1,000 crore film in the same year. The action drama, with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, crossed about ₹1,148 crore worldwide.

5. Pathaan (2023)

Siddharth Anand’s spy thriller marked Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback after a four-year gap from lead roles. Released in January 2023 with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, it crossed about ₹1,050 crore worldwide and opened Shah Rukh’s record-breaking 2023.

6. Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)

Kabir Khan’s drama stars Salman Khan as a devotee of Lord Hanuman who helps a mute Pakistani girl return home. It remains Salman’s biggest film, at about ₹918 crore worldwide, helped in part by a later release in China.

7. Animal (2023)

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s violent family drama starring Ranbir Kapoor divided critics but drew huge crowds. It earned about ₹917 crore worldwide and is Ranbir’s highest-grossing film so far.

8. Secret Superstar (2017)

This modestly budgeted film, directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Aamir Khan, follows a teenage girl who secretly uploads songs online. Most of its collection came from China.

Estimates vary widely for this one. Wikipedia’s own film page lists a range of about ₹858 crore to ₹966 crore, which is why its rank can shift between lists.

9. Stree 2 (2024)

Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy sequel, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, released on 15 August 2024 and earned about ₹874 crore worldwide. It is the biggest film in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe.

Stree 2 streams on Prime Video.

10. Chhaava (2025)

Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, directed by Laxman Utekar, is the newest entry in the top 10 alongside the Dhurandhar films. It released on 14 February 2025.

Chhaava streams on Netflix.

How these box office numbers are counted

Worldwide gross is the total ticket money collected in India and overseas, before taxes and before the cinema’s share is taken out. Producers and trade trackers in India often quote a separate net figure for the domestic market, which is lower because GST is removed.

That is why one film can show different totals on different websites. Dhurandhar: The Revenge, for example, is described as the first Hindi film to cross ₹1,000 crore net in India, while its worldwide gross is about ₹1,852 crore.

Which films could break into the list next

Two big releases later this year are being watched closely by trade analysts. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 arrives in Indian cinemas on 8 November 2026, and Shah Rukh Khan’s King is scheduled for 24 December 2026. Box office results for both will only be known after release.
