The most famous Jab We Met dialogue is Geet's "Main apni favourite hoon".Geet's "Jab koi pyaar mein hota hai" line is the film's best-known take on love.Imtiaz Ali's film released on 26 October 2007, starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. It streams on Prime Video and free with ads on JioHotstar in India.

The most famous Jab We Met dialogues are Geet’s “Main apni favourite hoon” and “Jab koi pyaar mein hota hai na, toh koi sahi galat nahi hota.” Imtiaz Ali’s 2007 romance gave Kareena Kapoor her most loved character. Here are 12 Jab We Met dialogues fans still quote, with meaning, who says them and where to stream the film.

Jab We Met released on 26 October 2007. Shahid Kapoor plays Aditya Kashyap, a heartbroken Mumbai businessman who gets on a train with no plan. Kareena Kapoor plays Geet Dhillon, a chatty Punjabi girl from Bhatinda who cannot stop talking. A missed train at Ratlam turns into a road trip, and the rest is Bollywood history.

Geet’s best lines

1. “Main apni favourite hoon!”

Meaning: I am my own favourite. Geet says it with full confidence, and the line became an anthem for self-love long before the phrase was trendy. It still shows up on T-shirts, mugs and Instagram bios.

2. “Sikhni hoon main, Bhatinda ki!”

Meaning: I am a Sikh girl, from Bhatinda. Geet’s proud introduction of herself, delivered as if it explains everything about her.

3. “Jab koi pyaar mein hota hai na, toh koi sahi galat nahi hota.”

Meaning: When someone is in love, nothing is right or wrong. Geet lives by it when she decides to run away to her boyfriend Anshuman. It is the film’s most quoted line on love.

4. “Aaj tak life mein ek train nahi chhooti meri.”

Meaning: I have never missed a train in my life. Geet says this with total confidence, and then misses the train at Ratlam. The irony sets the whole story moving.

5. “Bachpan se hi na, mujhe shaadi karne ka bahut craze hai, by god.”

Meaning: Since childhood I have been crazy about getting married. Geet’s dreamy, filmy side in one line.

6. “Batao, tumhe main kaisi lagti hoon? Achhi lagti hoon?”

Meaning: Tell me, how do I look to you? Do I look nice? Geet’s direct, slightly awkward question to Aditya, typical of how she says whatever is on her mind.

7. “Ab toh mera haath chhod do, itni bhi sundar nahi hoon main.”

Meaning: Let go of my hand now, I am not that pretty. A cheeky line, typical of the way Geet teases people around her.

8. “Kyunki yeh mera favourite game hai, zindagi!”

Meaning: Because my favourite game is life. Geet’s approach to everything: treat it as a game and play it fully.

Lines for and about Geet

9. “Akeli ladki khuli tijori ki tarah hoti hai.”

Meaning: A girl alone is like an open safe. Geet hears this warning at Ratlam station after missing her train, and the line went on to become one of the film’s most repeated. It is said as a warning, but the film quietly mocks the idea, since Geet handles herself just fine.

10. “Tum hamesha aise hi bakwaas karti ho, ya aaj koi special occasion hai?”

Meaning: Do you always talk this much nonsense, or is today a special occasion? Aditya’s irritated reaction to Geet on the train, before she wins him over.

11. “Tumhe uthakar museum mein rakhna chahiye. Ticket lagni chahiye tumhe dekhne ke liye.”

Meaning: You should be kept in a museum, with tickets sold to see you. A teasing line about how one of a kind the other person is.

12. “Aap convince ho gaye ya main aur bolun?”

Meaning: Are you convinced, or should I say more? Used after a long, fast argument, it is now a go-to line for ending any debate.

Why Jab We Met still works

Most of the film’s charm comes from Geet’s voice. Imtiaz Ali wrote a heroine who talks first and thinks later, and Kareena played her without any vanity. In the second half, when Geet goes quiet in Shimla, the change hits hard because we have spent an hour with her chatter.

Shahid’s Aditya changes too, from a man who wants to disappear to someone who runs his family business with new energy, partly because Geet told him to flush his ex’s photo and move on. Pritam’s music, with tracks like “Tum Se Hi”, “Mauja Hi Mauja” and “Yeh Ishq Haaye”, kept the film alive on playlists for years.

Kareena won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for Geet, and Saroj Khan won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for “Yeh Ishq Haaye”. For more romance classics, browse our Bollywood section and listicles. Kareena’s latest work is covered in celebs.

Jab We Met cast

  • Kareena Kapoor as Geet Dhillon, the talkative girl from Bhatinda
  • Shahid Kapoor as Aditya Kashyap, the heartbroken heir who boards a random train
  • Tarun Arora as Anshuman, Geet’s boyfriend in Manali
  • Dara Singh as Geet’s grandfather
  • Pavan Malhotra as Geet’s uncle

Dara Singh’s short scenes as the stern grandfather are among the funniest in the film, especially when Geet brings Aditya home.
