The cast also includes Nandish Sandhu, Amruta Khanvilkar, Anurag Sinha and Zoya Afroz. The season has seven episodes. Critics were divided on the writing and pacing, but the show became the first Indian series to top Netflix’s global non-English TV list, with 5.4 million views in its first week.
Why watch: A fast airport procedural that shows how customs work against gold and contraband smuggling.
2. Kohrra Season 2 (Netflix)
The first season of Kohrra won five Filmfare OTT Awards in 2023, so expectations were high. Season 2 arrived on 11 February 2026 with six episodes. Barun Sobti returns as ASI Amarpal Garundi, and Mona Singh joins as Sub-Inspector Dhanwant Kaur of the Dalerpura police station. Rannvijay Singha is also part of the new cast.
The case starts with a woman found dead in her brother’s barn in rural Punjab. Sudip Sharma and Faisal Rahman direct this season, and the tone stays slow and observant, with as much focus on the officers’ family lives as on the investigation.
Why watch: Mona Singh’s performance and a carefully written murder case set in Punjab.
3. Aspirants Season 3 (Prime Video)
The TVF drama about UPSC aspirants returned on 13 March 2026 with five episodes, directed and co-written by Deepesh Sumitra Jagdish. Naveen Kasturia plays Abhilash, now a serving officer, with Sunny Hinduja as Sandeep and Jatin Goswami as Pawan, his old rival from the exam years.
As in earlier seasons, the story moves between two timelines. In the past, Abhilash prepares for his final IAS attempt in Mukherjee Nagar. In the present, he competes with Pawan over a big education project while dealing with an inquiry and pressure from both families to get married.
Why watch: A grounded look at the gap between clearing the civil services exam and actually doing the job.
4. Chiraiya (JioHotstar)
Chiraiya, released on 20 March 2026, is a six-episode drama directed by Shashant Shah and adapted from the Bengali series Sampurna. Divya Dutta plays Kamlesh, and Prasanna Bisht plays Pooja, a young bride trapped in a controlling marriage. Sanjay Mishra and Siddharth Shaw are also in the main cast.
The series addresses marital rape and questions the idea that marriage means automatic consent. Most critics gave it 3 to 3.5 stars. Some felt it slipped into soap-opera style in places, but the subject and Divya Dutta’s performance were widely praised.
Why watch: One of the few Hindi shows to deal directly with consent inside marriage.
5. Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 (Netflix)
The courtroom comedy set in the Patparganj district court returned on 3 April 2026 with eight episodes, all directed by Rahul Pandey. Ravi Kishan is back as VD Tyagi, who has now become the Principal District Judge. Naila Grewal, Anant V Joshi and Nidhi Bisht return, and Kusha Kapila joins the cast as Naina Arora.
Each episode takes up a different case, with titles such as “Juvenile”, “Act of God” and “Compromise”. The humour comes from the everyday chaos of a small district court, its staff and the people who come to it for justice. Why watch: Short, funny episodes that work well for casual viewing.
6. Gullak Season 5 (SonyLIV)
The Mishra family returned on SonyLIV on 5 June 2026 with seven episodes, nearly two years after the previous season. Jameel Khan and Geetanjali Kulkarni play Santosh and Shanti Mishra, Harsh Mayar plays Aman, and Anant Joshi takes over as the elder son Annu, replacing Vaibhav Raj Gupta. Shreyansh Pandey and Abhay Raut direct.
The plot is built around a home renovation, a new Wi-Fi router, a loan Santosh does not want to ask his son for, and Annu’s growing feelings for a doctor. India TV gave the season 3.5 out of 5, while WION felt the formula was starting to lose its charm.
Why watch: Small-town middle-class family life written with warmth and detail.
7. Pritam and Pedro (JioHotstar)
Pritam and Pedro marks Rajkumar Hirani’s move to streaming. He created the series, and Avinash Arun, known for Paatal Lok, directs it. It started streaming on JioHotstar on 3 July 2026. Arshad Warsi plays Pedro, an old-school police officer moved to the cybercrime department, and Vir Hirani plays Pritam, a vacuum cleaner salesman with strong technical skills.
The two team up to solve a high-profile kidnapping. Vikrant Massey plays a cybercriminal, and Mona Singh has a supporting role. Filmibeat rated it 3 out of 5, praising Warsi’s comic timing while noting slower middle episodes.
Why watch: A light crime comedy that is easy to finish over a weekend.
8. Operation Safed Sagar (Netflix)
Operation Safed Sagar premiered on Netflix on 7 August 2026. The series is based on the Indian Air Force’s air campaign during the 1999 Kargil war, which carried the same code name. Jimmy Shergill leads the cast.
Netflix first announced the project in 2025. Some commentators have questioned how much of the history it leaves out, so it is best watched as a dramatised account.
Why watch: A rare screen account of the Air Force’s role in Kargil.
9. The Revolutionaries (Prime Video)
Nikkhil Advani’s eight-episode period drama started streaming on 11 September 2026. It is based on Sanjeev Sanyal’s non-fiction book Revolutionaries: The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom and follows young Indians who chose armed resistance against British rule.
Bhuvan Bam plays Rash Behari Bose, Rohit Saraf plays Sachindranath Sanyal, Gurfateh Pirzada plays Bagha Jatin and Pratibha Ranta plays Pratibha Lahiri. Reviews were mixed: Bollywood Hungama gave 3.5 stars and The Times of India gave 3, while Hindustan Times and NDTV gave 2.5 each.
Why watch: It covers freedom fighters who get little space in school textbooks.
10. Dupahiya Season 2 (Prime Video)
The village comedy returned on 1 October 2026 with eight episodes, again directed by Sonam Nair and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg. Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Bhuvan Arora lead the cast.
The first season received generally positive reviews for its gentle humour about a stolen motorcycle in a small village. Season 2 episode titles such as “AG OG Lo Ji 5G” and “Pareeksha” suggest the same mix of small-town problems and comedy.
Why watch: The newest show on this list, with a cast that handles comedy well.
