1. Ne Zha 2 (about $2.22 billion)
The Chinese animated sequel topped the year by a wide margin. It is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time and the highest-grossing non-English film ever. 2025 was only the second year in which a non-English film led the global box office.

2. Zootopia 2 (about $1.87 billion)
Disney’s sequel became the studio’s highest-grossing animated film. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde returned nine years after the first film. In India, Zootopia 2 is streaming on JioHotstar.
3. Avatar: Fire and Ash (about $1.49 billion)
James Cameron’s third Avatar film released in December 2025 and kept earning into 2026. It was the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025 in India, according to The Hollywood Reporter India, which reported about ₹120 crore gross in its first eight days. It is now streaming on JioHotstar.
4. Lilo & Stitch (about $1.04 billion)
Disney’s live-action remake of the 2002 animated film crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. It was one of only four films released in 2025 to reach that figure.

5. A Minecraft Movie (about $961 million)
Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the video game, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, came close to the $1 billion mark. In India, it is available on both Netflix and JioHotstar.
6. Jurassic World Rebirth (about $872 million)
Gareth Edwards directed this fresh start for the dinosaur series, with Scarlett Johansson in the lead. It was one of the stronger Hollywood performers in India too. It is not on a subscription service in India right now, but you can rent it on Amazon Prime Video’s store and Apple TV.
7. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (about $793 million)
This Japanese anime film became the highest-grossing Japanese and anime film of all time. The Hollywood Reporter India named it among the strong overseas performers at the Indian box office in 2025. It is the only non-Hollywood film on the list apart from Ne Zha 2.
8. How to Train Your Dragon (about $640 million)
Universal’s live-action remake of the DreamWorks animated hit took the franchise past $2 billion in total. In India, it is currently available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video’s store and Apple TV.
9. F1 (about $634 million)
Brad Pitt’s racing drama, produced with Apple, was a big success for a non-franchise film. In India it was the top Hollywood earner of 2025 for months before Avatar: Fire and Ash overtook it, as per The Hollywood Reporter India. F1 is streaming on Apple TV in India.
10. Superman (about $619 million)
James Gunn’s Superman, with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, launched the new DC Universe. It rounds off the top 10 and is streaming on JioHotstar in India.
What the 2025 list tells us
Franchises ruled the year. Nine of the top 10 films were sequels, remakes, reboots or adaptations of existing properties. F1 was the only original story in the list, which makes its run even more notable.
Animation also had a huge year. Ne Zha 2 and Zootopia 2 took the top two spots, and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle made the top 10 as well. Live-action remakes of animated films also paid off for studios, with Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon both in the list.
Superhero films, which once dominated these charts, had a quieter year. Superman was the only superhero film in the top 10, while Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps finished outside it with about $522 million worldwide.
How did Hollywood do in India in 2025?
Hollywood had a decent year in India. According to Ormax Media’s Shailesh Kapoor, quoted by The Hollywood Reporter India, Hollywood films grossed over ₹1,135 crore in India till November 2025. That was about 10% of the total Indian box office.
