Marvel’s next film is Avengers: Doomsday, releasing on 18 December 2026 in India and the US. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on 17 December 2027, which ends the Multiverse Saga. Where the MCU stands right now
Marvel is in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The phase began with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025, which grossed about $522 million worldwide. Spider-Man: Brand New Day followed on 31 July 2026, with Tom Holland and Zendaya back as Peter Parker and MJ.

Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, turned into one of the biggest hits of the year. Wikipedia’s box office listing puts its worldwide gross at more than $2.3 billion. The cast also had Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.
Avengers: Doomsday (18 December 2026)
This is the big one. Anthony and Joe Russo, who made Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, are back in the director’s chair. The film is set after the events of Thunderbolts* and is positioned as the proper follow-up to Endgame.
The headline is Robert Downey Jr.’s return. After playing Tony Stark for over a decade, he now plays the villain Doctor Doom. Variety India has reported that the film releases in India on 18 December, the same day as the US.

Why Doomsday was delayed twice
The film was first planned for 2 May 2025. It moved to 1 May 2026, partly because of the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. In May 2025, Disney pushed it again to 18 December 2026 to give the team more production time.
Filming began on 28 April 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England and wrapped on 19 September 2025. Some location work was done in Bahrain.
The Dune clash and IMAX
Doomsday shares its release date with Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three. In the US, Dune has a three-week IMAX exclusivity window, so Doomsday will not play on IMAX screens there during that period. Wikipedia notes Doomsday will get IMAX shows in select international markets.
For India, this matters because the country has only 34 IMAX screens, as per Variety India. Fans who want the large format should keep an eye on advance bookings.
Avengers: Secret Wars (17 December 2027)
The Russo brothers also direct Secret Wars, which will close both Phase Six and the Multiverse Saga. It is in pre-production. Marvel has not shared a full cast, so treat any long cast lists you see online with caution.

- Untitled X-Men film: 5 May 2028, in pre-production. This will be the MCU’s own take on the mutants.

Disney has also blocked dates in May, July and November 2029 for Marvel films that are still unnamed.
Announced, but no date yet
Armor Wars, a Nova film and a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are all in development without release dates. A sequel to The Fantastic Four: First Steps was also reported to be in development in June 2025.
