Ladakh is an enthralling destination. Anyone who has visited Ladakh will never forget the landscape, the people, or the timeless beauty that lies hidden between the colourful layers of mountains. Overtourism has been a problem in Ladakh recently, and it has taken a toll on the fragile ecosystem. Even now, the location is stunning, and many people have yet to explore this wonderland.

Summer (April-June) is unquestionably the ideal time to visit Ladakh. It’s when the snow melts and the region transforms into a kaleidoscope of colours. During this time, you can see breathtaking scenery as well as charming Buddhist festivals like the famed Hemis Festival (June-July). Trekking, rafting, and camping are also available. Tourist season is in full swing.

How to reach Ladakh:

Flight: Taking a flight is the simplest (and also the quickest) way to get to Leh. Leh to New Delhi flights are available on a regular basis. On a clear day, the flight provides spectacular views of the Himalayas. Flights are the only way to get to Leh during the winter months, when the roads are closed.

Railways: Jammu is the closest railway station. From Jammu, you can go to Srinagar and then to Leh through the Srinagar Leh Highway. The Indian government has launched a massive project that will connect Jammu and Leh.

Srinagar – Leh Highway: This path covers a total distance of around 419 kilometres. The Srinagar Leh Highway connects Kashmir’s valley with Leh’s trans-Himalayan region. The terrain changes dramatically along this route.

Manali – Leh Highway: This journey covers a total distance of 473 kilometres. The Manali-Leh roadway is brimming with excitement. Unlike the Srinagar Leh Highway, the road passes through difficult terrain and wilderness. On the journey, you’ll pass through five mountain passes and various water streams. The Manali Leh Highway is one of the most interesting and beautiful routes in the country. A stopover at Sarchu or Keylong is also recommended on this trip.

Transportation around Ladakh:

Once you arrive in Leh, there are numerous sights to view both within the city and in the surrounding area. Renting a car is the most convenient method to go about Ladakh. This is the greatest option if you’re going with your family or a group of pals. Rent a bike and go sightseeing around Leh and the surrounding areas. Bike rentals are also available for long-distance travels. In fact, many individuals ride their bikes to Ladakh from their hometown for an unforgettable adventure. Ladakh is a biker’s paradise, where you may proudly ride your beast!

Ladakh’s district headquarters and main town is Leh. It’s a charming town with a cosmopolitan feel about it. The markets are vibrant and alive with activity. The Leh Palace, Hall of Fame, Sindhu Ghat, Leh local market, Shankar Gompa, and the spectacular Shanti Stupa are all worth seeing in Leh. Climb the Shanti Stupa at sunset or sunrise for the best views. From there, you’ll have some spectacular vistas. The Hemis Festival is one of the most popular festivals in the area, drawing a large crowd. Visit the Thiksey Monastery, Phyang, Spituk, Stakna Monastery, Shey Palace, and Stok Palace while you’re there. Finally, set aside another day to see Sham Valley, which contains Alchi Monastery, Likir Monastery, Basgo Palace, Magnetic Hills, Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, and the Indus-Zanskar River confluence at Nimmu.

Total expense:

It is estimated to cost around Rs 25000 to Rs 30000 per person for a good Ladakh trip.
