Due to India’s peculiar Geography and distinct Geology, India has some fascinating places that go unnoticed most often. Who said you have to go all the way to Switzerland to have a taste of tranquillity? Himachal Pradesh itself presents you with a mini Switzerland at your own pocket-friendly expense.

For the authentic experience, you have Prashar Lake located in the Mandi district. This pristine lake located at such height will not fail to impress you as you take a look at the green surroundings, a hint of snow, with the pretty wooden cottages, you will never think about undermining incredible India again.

All You Need To Know About Prashar Lake

The oval-shaped lake is situated at an elevation of 2730 meters above sea level, and it sits at about 49 km from the town of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. It lies in the Kullu region of the majestic Dhauladhar range of mountains. And just beside it, you will find a temple that was originally built in the 13th century in the Pagoda style by the King of Mandi. It was a tribute to a great sage called Prashar which is what the lake is christened as too.

When Is The Best Time To Visit

To be fair, the time frame preferences change according to the traveller’s mood and the kind of experience she wishes to have. But if one is looking to have a clear view of the serene landscape without the haze of snow, then the months of April-July would be a great fit. To have an experience of more pleasant and enjoyable weather the months of September-November would work for you and to enjoy the ultimate magnificent view of snow-capped mountains and the stunning Sutlej river in the distance, Prashar lake up close then months later November can aid into the list of an amazing experience.

The Best Way To Reach Your Destination
The nearest airport to Lake Prashar is Bhuntar Airport in Kullu is the most popular choice amongst travelers. Mandi is the closest town to the lake and it is 49 km away as mentioned previously. If you plan on going for a trek, then the starting point will be Panarasa from where you will reach Jwalapur village and then finally to Lake Prashar. On average, it will be taking two days approx for the completion of the trek, but it will be worth it.
