Visually pleasing movies you can watch on Amazon Prime include Dune, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, A Death in the Gunj, Spencer, Minari, House of Gucci and Saltburn. Each is worth watching for its camerawork, colour and production design as much as its story. Prime’s India catalogue changes often, so check the app first.
Some films are so carefully shot that you could pause on almost any frame and frame it. This list picks seven of them, from a desert epic to a quiet Indian family drama set in 1979. We have also swapped out one title from our earlier list for a stronger visual pick.

7 visually pleasing movies you can watch on Amazon Prime
1. Dune (2021)
Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel is one of the best-looking blockbusters of the decade. Greig Fraser’s camerawork turns the desert planet Arrakis into something vast and frightening, and the giant sandworms feel real.

The film won six Oscars, including Best Cinematography. It looks good enough to watch on mute, though Hans Zimmer’s score is worth hearing. Timothée Chalamet leads as Paul Atreides, and the story continues in Dune: Part Two (2024).
2. Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019)
Céline Sciamma’s French drama is set on a remote island in 18th-century Brittany. A painter, Marianne, is hired to secretly paint a portrait of Héloïse, a young woman who refuses to pose because she does not want to be married off.
Almost every shot looks like a painting, with careful candlelight, windswept cliffs and strong blocks of colour. The film won Best Screenplay at Cannes.
3. A Death in the Gunj (2017)
Konkona Sen Sharma’s directorial debut is set in McCluskieganj, a former Anglo-Indian settlement in Jharkhand, during a family holiday in 1979. It follows Shutu (Vikrant Massey), a shy young man grieving his father, who is quietly bullied by the relatives around him.
The film is slow and moody, with misty forests, old bungalows and soft winter light. Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, Gulshan Devaiah, Tillotama Shome and Om Puri are part of the ensemble.

4. Spencer (2021)
Pablo Larraín’s film imagines three days in the life of Princess Diana over a royal Christmas at Sandringham. Kristen Stewart’s performance as Diana earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
Claire Mathon, who also shot Portrait of a Lady on Fire, keeps the camera close to Diana, so the grand rooms and perfect costumes feel like a trap. Prime Video picked up Spencer for streaming in many international markets.
5. Minari (2020)
Lee Isaac Chung’s film follows a Korean-American family who move to a farm in Arkansas in the 1980s. The father wants to grow Korean vegetables, while the rest of the family tries to adjust to rural life.
The fields, the trailer home and the stream where the grandmother plants minari are filmed with warmth. Youn Yuh-jung won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for playing the grandmother.
6. House of Gucci (2021)
Ridley Scott’s film tells the true story of Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), who married into the Gucci fashion family and was later convicted of arranging the killing of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver).
The story rambles, but the 1970s and 1980s costumes, Italian villas and ski resorts are a treat to look at. Al Pacino and Jared Leto add plenty of drama.
7. Saltburn (2023)
Emerald Fennell’s dark comedy, an Amazon MGM Studios release, follows Oliver (Barry Keoghan), an Oxford student who is invited to spend the summer at his rich friend’s huge country estate. Things get stranger as he becomes part of the family.
Linus Sandgren shot it in the boxy 1.33:1 frame, which makes the house look like a series of portraits. The film replaces Kimi from our earlier list, since Kimi is an HBO Max title and is not a Prime release.
Tips for watching visually rich films
- Use the biggest screen you have. A TV or laptop will show far more detail than a phone.
- Check the video quality. In the Prime Video app, pick the highest quality setting your data plan allows.
- Watch in a dark room. Films like Spencer and Portrait of a Lady on Fire use a lot of low light and shadows.
- Check if it is free or rent-only. Some titles sit in the Prime Video store for rental rather than in the subscription library.
