The coolest sitcom apartments include Monica’s flat in Friends, Leonard and Sheldon’s place in The Big Bang Theory, Frasier’s Seattle home with its Space Needle view, the New Girl loft, Ted’s apartment in How I Met Your Mother and Troy and Abed’s apartment in Community. Most of them are far bigger than their characters could afford.
Sitcom characters work as waiters, struggling actors and part-time chefs, yet they live in homes most city renters can only dream of. Fans have joked about it for years. That is part of the fun: these apartments are as much characters as the people living in them.

10 most insanely cool sitcom apartments
1. Max and Caroline’s apartment, 2 Broke Girls (2011 to 2017)
Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs play two waitresses at a Williamsburg diner who become roommates. Their Brooklyn apartment has an artsy, lived-in feel and a garden. In the first season, Caroline’s horse Chestnut actually lived in that garden, and in season two it was turned into a barn.
The show ran for six seasons on CBS.
2. Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment, The Big Bang Theory (2007 to 2019)
The Pasadena living room is packed with science gear, comics and whiteboards. Penny lives across the hall, and the building’s lift stays broken for most of the series, so the cast climbs the stairs in scene after scene. It is finally fixed in the second-last episode.
The franchise is still growing. Young Sheldon ran until 2024, Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage was renewed for a third season in January 2026, and Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premiered on HBO Max in July 2026. In India, The Big Bang Theory streams on JioHotstar through its HBO Max hub.
3. Dev’s apartment, Master of None (2015 to 2021)
Aziz Ansari’s Dev lives in a New York flat with a big kitchen, a record collection and a vintage industrial look. It is where he discovers his love of pasta making and where much of season one’s relationship drama with Rachel plays out.
Ansari and Alan Yang created the show for Netflix, where all three seasons stream.
4. SpongeBob’s pineapple house, SpongeBob SquarePants (1999 to present)
SpongeBob lives in a pineapple at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in Bikini Bottom. It is the only home on this list that is also a fruit. Created by Stephen Hillenburg, the Nickelodeon show began its 17th season in June 2026.
5. Ted’s apartment, How I Met Your Mother (2005 to 2014)
Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor, shares his Manhattan flat with Marshall and Lily at the start of the show. The gang spends most nights at MacLaren’s, the bar downstairs, and the apartment’s roof becomes a favourite spot. Ted later gives the place to Marshall and Lily.
6. Troy and Abed’s apartment, Community (2009 to 2015)
Troy and Abed’s home has one feature no other apartment here can match: the Dreamatorium, a room where the two friends act out imaginary adventures. Dan Harmon’s show ran on NBC for five seasons and a sixth on Yahoo Screen.
A Community movie was ordered by Peacock in 2022. Donald Glover said in April 2026 that it is still in production, and no release date has been announced.
7. Spencer and Carly’s apartment, iCarly (2007 to 2012)
Carly Shay lives with her older brother Spencer in a Seattle building called Bushwell Plaza. The apartment has a third-floor studio loft where Carly makes her web show, along with Spencer’s odd sculptures. A revival ran on Paramount+ from 2021 to 2023.
8. Frasier’s apartment, Frasier (1993 to 2004)
Frasier Crane’s Seattle apartment is modern, tasteful and has a terrace view of the Space Needle. The view was designed for the set, and no real building in Seattle has that exact view. Add a grand piano and formal dining space, and it suits a radio psychiatrist with expensive taste.
The show won 37 Primetime Emmys. A revival premiered on Paramount+ in October 2023.
9. The loft, New Girl (2011 to 2018)
Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, moves into a Los Angeles loft with three men after answering a roommate ad. The set was built to look like a factory turned into a home, with high ceilings and a shared bathroom. The exterior is the Binford Building in the city’s Arts District.
10. Monica’s apartment, Friends (1994 to 2004)
Monica Geller’s Manhattan apartment, with its purple walls and purple door, is the most famous sitcom home ever made. How a young chef could afford it in New York has been a running joke among fans for decades.
Friends ran for 10 seasons on NBC. In India, it streams on JioHotstar, which added Friends and The Big Bang Theory when it launched an HBO Max hub on 15 April 2026.
Why sitcom apartments look so good
Sitcoms are shot on studio sets, so designers build rooms for cameras, not for real budgets. Wide living rooms let several actors fit in one shot, and colourful props help each show look distinct. That is why the homes in Friends and New Girl feel bigger than real city flats.
