Some songs are the answers to our cries for help. They come to us in times when the silence is deafening. These songs not only give our shoulders a little reassuring squeeze but also say, “You’re not alone”.
The lyrics of these songs are curated to help pull you out from the gloom and show you what it’s like to feel the sunshine.
There might not be enough songs for such situations, but the ones that exist surely are enough in themselves.
Here’s looking at a bunch of such songs and the best bits of their lyrics:
1. Hope ur ok – Olivia Rodrigo
‘And somehow, we fell out of touch
Hope he took his bad deal and made a royal flush
Don’t know if I’ll see you again someday
But if you’re out there, I hope that you’re okay’
2. Anxiety- Julia Michaels ft. Selena Gomez

3. This Is Me Trying- Taylor Swift

I just wanted you to know
That this is me trying’
4. If I Were A Friend- Blü Eyes

I’d know just what to say

I could help me settle down’

Waiting for a change to come
You know you’re not the only one’
6. Castle of Glass – Linkin Park
‘Take me down to the river bend
Take me down to the fighting end
Wash the poison from off my skin

Past the black where the sirens sing
Warm me up in a nova’s glow
And drop me down to the dream below’
7. Chosen Family- Rina Sawayama, Elton John

We been going through the same thing’

9. Keep Holding On- Avril Lavigne
‘Hear me when I say, when I say I believe
Nothing’s gonna change

Know that we’ll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella’
12. Fix You- Coldplay

When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you’
