Miss World to Bollywood (2000 to 2008)
Priyanka won Miss World 2000 in London, becoming the fifth Indian to take the title. Her screen debut came in the Tamil film Thamizhan (2002), followed by her first Hindi film, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003).

Andaaz (2003) won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, which she shared with Lara Dutta. Aitraaz (2004) was her breakout role and earned her the Filmfare award for Best Performance in a Negative Role.

The big Bollywood years (2012 to 2015)

Quantico and the move to Hollywood (2015 to 2021)
Also in 2015, Priyanka began starring in the ABC series Quantico. She became the first South Asian to headline an American network drama. In 2016, she won a People’s Choice Award for the role, the first South Asian actress to do so. The show ran for three seasons on ABC, from 2015 to 2018, and made her a familiar face for American TV audiences.
The same year, the Government of India gave her the Padma Shri, and she became a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She had worked with UNICEF in India since 2010.
Her Hollywood film debut was Baywatch (2017). She later appeared in The White Tiger (2021) on Netflix and The Matrix Resurrections (2021). Her memoir, Unfinished, came out in 2021 and made the New York Times Best Seller list.

Citadel and the Prime Video years (2023 to 2025)
In 2023, she starred as Nadia Sinh in Prime Video’s spy series Citadel, opposite Richard Madden. According to reports, the two lead actors received equal pay for the first season. The series came from the Russo brothers’ production company AGBO.
In July 2025, she appeared in the action comedy Heads of State with John Cena and Idris Elba, also on Prime Video. In April 2025, she also joined Judgment Day, a comedy co-starring Zac Efron.
2026: The Bluff and Citadel season 2
The Bluff premiered on Prime Video on 25 February 2026. Directed by Frank E. Flowers and backed by Joe and Anthony Russo, it is set in the late 19th-century Caribbean. Priyanka plays Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, a former pirate protecting her family, with Karl Urban as Captain Connor, according to The Hollywood Reporter India.
Citadel season 2 followed on 6 May 2026, also on Prime Video. Priyanka and Richard Madden returned, with Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville and new cast members including Jack Reynor and Matt Berry, as reported by Khaleej Times.
What is next: Varanasi in April 2027
Priyanka’s next Indian film is Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli, whose last film was RRR. It is a Telugu action-adventure starring Mahesh Babu in a dual role, with Priyanka as Mandakini and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the villain, Kumbha.
The title was revealed at The Globetrotter Event at Ramoji Film City on 15 November 2025. The film is set to release on 7 April 2027 in standard, Dolby Cinema and IMAX formats, with Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions, according to its Wikipedia record. It is her first Indian film since The Sky Is Pink (2019), which she also produced. The budget has been reported at around Rs 1,400 crore, which would put it among the most expensive Indian films ever made.
Beyond acting
Priyanka also runs businesses outside films. Her haircare brand Anomaly entered India through Nykaa in 2022. She has a production company, a restaurant in New York and a homeware line.
