Hollywood movies releasing in India in November 2026

1. The Cat in the Hat

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s take on the Dr. Seuss character opens on 6 November 2026 in the US, and District lists the same date for India. Bill Hader voices the Cat, with Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera and Bowen Yang in the voice cast. Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja direct.

Best for: Families with young children looking for a weekend outing.

2. I Play Rocky

Peter Farrelly, who directed Green Book, tells the story of how a young Sylvester Stallone fought to make and star in Rocky. Anthony Ippolito plays Stallone, with Stephan James as Carl Weathers and Matt Dillon as Stallone’s father. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2026.

Amazon MGM Studios opens it in limited US cinemas on 6 November before a wider release on 20 November. District lists 13 November for India, but smaller films like this one often get a limited city release, so check local listings.

Best for: Fans of sports films and stories about how classic movies were made.

3. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

This is the biggest Hollywood release of November. Based on Suzanne Collins’s 2025 novel, the prequel follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, during the 50th Hunger Games. Francis Lawrence, who directed four earlier films in the series, returns.

The cast includes Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, Ralph Fiennes and Glenn Close, and Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson return as Katniss and Peeta. Lionsgate releases it on 20 November 2026 in the US, including IMAX, and District lists 20 November for India too.

Best for: Fans of the original films and young adult fiction.

4. Hexed

Hexed is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ original film for the holiday season. It is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand, and the voice cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Rashida Jones, Jodie Foster, Walton Goggins and Stephen Fry. The US release is 25 November 2026, while District lists 27 November for India.

Best for: Families and animation fans.

5. Focker-In-Law

The Meet the Parents series returns with Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller as Jack Byrnes and Greg Focker. Ariana Grande joins as Olivia Jones, and Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner and Teri Polo return. John Hamburg writes and directs.

Universal releases it in the US and Canada on 25 November 2026, while Paramount handles other markets. District lists 27 November for India.

Best for: Viewers who want a light comedy rather than a big action film.

6. Violent Night 2

David Harbour returns as an action-hero Santa Claus in this sequel from director Tommy Wirkola, produced by 87North. Kristen Bell joins as Mrs. Claus, with Jared Harris playing a gangster. Universal has set 4 December 2026 for the US, and District lists the same date for India. Like the first film, expect strong violence, so check the certificate before booking for younger viewers.

Best for: Adult viewers who like action comedy with a holiday setting.

7. Avengers: Doomsday

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday brings Robert Downey Jr. back to Marvel, this time as Doctor Doom. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh and Letitia Wright are in the cast, along with X-Men actors Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and James Marsden.

The US release is 18 December 2026. Telugu film site Gulte reports that the film opens in Indian theatres a day earlier, on 17 December, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Marvel also brought Avengers: Endgame back to Indian cinemas in late September 2026 ahead of the new film.

Best for: Marvel fans and anyone who wants the biggest crowd experience of the year.

8. Dune: Part Three

Denis Villeneuve’s third Dune film, based on Frank Herbert’s books and drawing on Dune Messiah, opens on 18 December 2026 in the US. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin return, with Florence Pugh as Irulan, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia and Robert Pattinson as Scytale. District lists 18 December for India.

Dune: Part Three has a three-week IMAX exclusive window in the US over Avengers: Doomsday, and early IMAX screenings start on 14 December. IMAX plans for India have not been confirmed, so watch for announcements from PVR INOX and other chains if the format matters to you.

Best for: Science fiction fans who want to see a film on the largest screen possible.

9. Jumanji: Open World

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan return for the third film in the rebooted Jumanji series, directed again by Jake Kasdan. Danny DeVito, Awkwafina and Nick Jonas are also back. Sony moved the film from 11 December to 25 December 2026 to avoid a clash with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three. District lists 25 December for India.

Best for: A Christmas Day family outing.

Avengers: Doomsday vs Dune: Part Three: what the clash means in India

The two biggest Hollywood films of the year release in the same week, which American fans have nicknamed “Dunesday”. In India, Avengers: Doomsday is expected to open a day earlier and in four languages, which gives it a head start in single screens and in Telugu and Tamil markets. Dune: Part Three is likely to depend more on English-language shows in multiplexes and premium formats.

Practical tips for that week:

  • Book early for the first weekend, especially for IMAX, 4DX and recliner seats.
  • Check which language version you are booking, as Indian apps list Hindi, Tamil and Telugu shows separately.
  • Weekday morning shows are usually cheaper and less crowded than weekend evening shows.
  • If you are travelling for the Christmas break, plan around Jumanji: Open World on 25 December.

Year-end trips and long queues outside cinemas go easier with a good pair of sunglasses, and Indian eyewear brand Rawbare has options suited to winter travel.

Which big films moved out of 2026?

Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew was earlier planned for a limited IMAX release in late November 2026. It now opens in US theatres on 12 February 2027 and streams on Netflix from 2 April 2027. Laika’s animated film Wildwood opens in the US on 23 October 2026, and District lists a 13 November date for India. For what comes next year, see our list of the most anticipated movies of 2027. You can also catch up on the best movies of 2026 so far before the year-end releases arrive.
