Wednesday Season 3 has finished filming. Netflix confirmed the wrap in late September 2026, after about seven months of shooting in Ireland and Paris. There is no official release date yet, but Deadline reports the new season is expected in 2027. Eva Green and Winona Ryder are among the new cast.
Jenna Ortega’s Netflix show has a huge global following, so the wrap news set off a fresh round of release-date guesses and fan theories. Here is what Netflix has confirmed, what has only been reported, and which rumours you can ignore.
Has Wednesday Season 3 finished filming?
Yes. Netflix announced through its Tudum site that production on Season 3 has wrapped, as reported by Tell-Tale TV on 30 September 2026. Netflix also shared a new photo of Jenna Ortega as Wednesday with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

According to What’s on Netflix, filming began on 16 February 2026. The show was shot mainly in Dublin and County Wicklow in Ireland, with scenes filmed in central Paris from mid-April.
When will Wednesday Season 3 release?
Netflix has not announced a release date. Deadline has reported a 2027 release window, and Season 3 was not part of Netflix’s 2026 line-up.
What’s on Netflix, citing unnamed sources, reported that Netflix has considered a spring or summer 2027 slot, with August 2027 mentioned at one point. This is not officially confirmed. Post-production on a show with this many visual effects usually takes several months, so a 2027 release fits the usual pattern.
Will it release in two parts?
Possibly, but nothing has been announced. Season 2 was split into two parts in 2025, and What’s on Netflix notes that Netflix may follow the same plan again. Treat it as a guess until Netflix confirms.
Wednesday Season 3 timeline so far
Here is how Season 3 has moved from renewal to wrap, based on Netflix announcements and What’s on Netflix tracking.

|---|---|
| 23 July 2025 | Netflix renews Wednesday for Season 3 |
| November 2025 | Eva Green announced as Aunt Ophelia |

A long gap between wrap and release is normal for a show like this, since visual effects, editing and music take several months.
Wednesday Season 3 cast: who is new
Netflix has confirmed several new names through Tudum. In April 2026, Netflix Tudum announced Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance as guest stars. Their roles have not been revealed.
- Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s sister
- Winona Ryder as Tabitha
- Chris Sarandon as Balthazar
- Noah Taylor as Cyrus
- Oscar Morgan as Atticus
- Kennedy Moyer as Daisy
- Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance in undisclosed roles
Winona Ryder’s casting got special attention online because she worked with Tim Burton on Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, and more recently on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with Jenna Ortega.
Who is returning?
Netflix’s Tudum page lists the main returning cast. Jenna Ortega is back as Wednesday, with Emma Myers as Enid, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Luis Guzman as Gomez.
Also returning are Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), Joanna Lumley (Grandmama Hester), Hunter Doohan (Tyler), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Billie Piper (Isadora) and Victor Dorobantu as Thing. Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are back, and Tim Burton remains an executive producer and director.
What is the story about?
Netflix has not released a synopsis. But Season 2 set up some clear threads. It ended with Wednesday and Uncle Fester heading off to find Enid, who is now an Alpha werewolf. Season 2 also introduced Aunt Ophelia and a warning that Wednesday must die.
Speaking to Tudum, Gough said the team wants to keep “expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.” Millar promised more Addams family members and “more family secrets” in Season 3. The Paris shoot suggests at least part of the story moves outside Nevermore.
Rumours and fan theories, checked
Was filming paused?
In September, The Sun reported that production had paused while scripts were rewritten. According to What’s on Netflix, local Irish reports did not support this, and Netflix then announced the wrap. There is no official word of any pause.
Is Season 3 the last season?
Not confirmed. Jenna Ortega told Esquire that the show was “coming to a head”, which some fans read as a sign of an ending. Millar later told The Hollywood Reporter that the number of seasons is Netflix’s decision. Netflix has not said Season 3 is the final season.
An Uncle Fester spin-off?
A spin-off around Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester has been reported as being in development. Netflix has not officially announced it.
The Balthazar theory
Chris Sarandon’s character is named Balthazar, and some fans online think a group with that name could be the new villains. This is pure fan speculation.
