The biggest Hollywood releases left in 2026 are Street Fighter (16 October), Clayface (23 October), The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (20 November), and Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, both on 18 December. Jumanji: Open World closes the year on 25 December. Here is what each film is about and what we know about its India release.
A quick note on dates. Where an Indian release date has been reported, we say so. For the rest, we list the confirmed US date. Hollywood studios usually open their big films in India on the same Friday or a day or two earlier, but you should check ticket apps closer to release.
1. The Social Reckoning (9 October 2026)
Aaron Sorkin writes and directs this Columbia Pictures drama, which opens in the US on 9 October. The cast includes Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madison and Jeremy Strong. It is the most awards-focused title on this list and is aimed at adult audiences rather than families.

No separate India date has been announced so far, so keep an eye on listings this week.
2. Street Fighter (16 October 2026)
This is the one with a direct India connection. Vidyut Jammwal plays Dhalsim in the live-action film based on the Capcom fighting game series. Kitao Sakurai directs, Legendary Pictures produces and Paramount Pictures distributes.
The cast also has Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison and Jason Momoa as Blanka. According to The Hollywood Reporter India, the film releases in India and internationally on 16 October. In the US, it is also getting an IMAX release.
3. Clayface (23 October 2026)
Clayface is the next film in DC Studios’ new universe, part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. James Watkins directs from a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, the actor who becomes the shape-shifting Batman villain, with Naomi Ackie and Max Minghella in the cast.
Warner Bros. moved the film from 11 September to 23 October in February 2026. The story centres on one of the best-known villains from the Batman comics.
4. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (20 November 2026)
Lionsgate’s latest Hunger Games film is based on Suzanne Collins’s 2025 novel. It goes back to the 50th Hunger Games and follows a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy from District 12, played by Joseph Zada. Francis Lawrence, who directed most of the earlier films, returns.
Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning and Kieran Culkin are also in the cast. The US release is 20 November, including IMAX. Fans of the books in India have been waiting for this one since the novel came out.

5. Avengers: Doomsday (18 December 2026)
This is the biggest release of the year for Indian Marvel fans. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film brings Robert Downey Jr. back to the MCU, this time as Doctor Doom. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh and Vanessa Kirby are part of the cast.
It also brings in X-Men faces such as Ian McKellen as Magneto and Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Variety India has reported an 18 December release in India, the same day as the US. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is dated 17 December 2027.
6. Dune: Part Three (18 December 2026)
Denis Villeneuve ends his Dune trilogy with this adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. The story is set 17 years after Dune: Part Two. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya return, joined by Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jason Momoa, who plays a clone of Duncan Idaho.
The film was largely shot on 65mm, with some sequences on IMAX film. It also clashes with Avengers: Doomsday in India on 18 December, according to Variety India. That is a problem for IMAX fans, as India had only 34 IMAX screens as of 2025, so book early if you want the large format.
7. Jumanji: Open World (25 December 2026)
Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan return for the third film in the rebooted Jumanji series. Jake Kasdan directs again, and Danny DeVito is back too. Sony moved the film from 11 December to Christmas Day to stay away from the Marvel and Dune clash.
If you want a light family film during the holidays, this is the pick. It does, however, open the day after Shah Rukh Khan’s King, which is dated 24 December.
Which of these will be the biggest in India?
Going by the past record of the franchises, Avengers: Doomsday is the safest bet for the biggest opening in India. Marvel’s Avengers films have always done well here, and this one has Robert Downey Jr. back. Dune: Part Three will depend on IMAX shows, while Street Fighter has an added draw in Vidyut Jammwal.
December is also packed with Indian films. Sacnilk lists Prabhas’s Fauzi, Ajay Devgn’s Ranger and Shah Rukh Khan’s King in the same month, so screen counts will be tight. For more film news, see our Hollywood section and our movies coverage.
