The best scenes where children confronted their parents in Hindi cinema come from Highway, Udaan, Kapoor and Sons, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy, Dear Zindagi, Tamasha and Jug Jugg Jeeyo. In each one, a son or daughter finally says what they have held back for years, and for very valid reasons: abuse, hypocrisy, silence or crushed dreams.
Hindi films have long shown parents as people who cannot be questioned. These scenes changed that. Our earlier version of this list promised eight scenes but listed only seven, so we have added Udaan (2010), which has one of the strongest father and son confrontations in Bollywood. We have also added where each film streams in India as of October 2026.

He refuses to take over the family business, says his sister Ayesha, played by Priyanka Chopra, has the real business sense, and asks them to support her divorce. 5. Gully Boy (2019): Murad stands his ground
In Zoya Akhtar’s film, Ranveer Singh plays Murad, a young man from Mumbai who wants to be a rapper. Murad confronts his father twice.

7. Tamasha (2015): Ved stops pretending
Imtiaz Ali’s film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ved Sahni, with Deepika Padukone as Tara. Ved’s confrontation with his father is told almost like a story.
He conveys how his aspirations were slowly crushed by pressure to fit into a life that never suited him. It is less of a fight and more of a release, and it marks the moment Ved starts living for himself.

8. Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022): Kuku questions his father
Raj Mehta’s family comedy stars Varun Dhawan as Kuku, Anil Kapoor as his father Bheem and Neetu Singh as his mother Geeta. Kiara Advani plays Kuku’s wife Naina.
Kuku confronts Bheem not as a son, but as someone who sees how his father has neglected his mother’s needs for years. It is a lighter film, but the scene raises a real point about marriages that look fine from the outside.
