The most famous Gangs of Wasseypur dialogues are “Keh ke lenge” from Sardar Khan, “Beta, tumse na ho payega” from Ramadhir Singh and Faizal’s “Baap ka, dada ka, bhai ka, sabka badla lega re tera Faizal.” Here are 25 lines from Anurag Kashyap’s 2012 two-part crime saga, with meaning and context.
Gangs of Wasseypur premiered at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in May 2012. Part 1 released in India on 22 June 2012 and Part 2 on 8 August 2012. Set in the coal belt around Dhanbad, it follows a decades-long feud between the Khan family and the politician Ramadhir Singh. Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Piyush Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi lead a huge cast.
